Our work explores literal subjects by first breaking them down into their individual elements. These elements are then examined through the unique perspective of each performer's own vocabulary and experience.
The resulting pieces are then crafted together to create an abstraction of the original subject while still maintaining the tone. This abstraction allows the audience to experience the subject free from existing associations thereby discovering something truly unique.
We are inspired by the sculptural imagery of Butoh, the elements of chance from Cunningham, and the theatrical vision of Martha Clark. We are called Deliquescent Designs because we are not just dancers and choreographers but designers of a total visual and emotional experience.
